Most Australian employees can now choose the fund into which their employer deposits their 9% Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions, and this choice is soon to be introduced for WA State Government employees.
For more information about the introduction of Choice of Super, please read the announcement made by the Treasurer, the Hon Troy Buswell, in July 2009.
Currently, in most cases, State Government employer super contributions have to be paid into GESB.
Once choice is introduced, you will be able to choose another super fund or remain with GESB.
If you don't make a choice, your employer super contributions will be paid into the fund chosen by your employer. GESB is the employer (or default) fund for most State Goverment employees.
